Wearing a helmet when riding is like:

Driving a convertible with the top up, or swimming with your clothes on. What's the point?

Actually there are as many rider accidents caused by helmets as deaths because of no helmets. It's just that the liberal nannies always know what's good for you.

I ride without a helmet and I swim in the ocean with sharks. I just don't jump out of airplanes. Now that's not sane.

I disagree with you (gae) wholeheartedly on this one. I HAD a cousin who rode without a helmet and he was killed when he was 37 years old, through no fault of his, but because of being hit by a car while on I74. With a helmet he MAY not have been killed. A helmet could have saved his life. I hope nothing ever happens to you! [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img]

It was me posting under her ID. to lazy to log out and back in.

I had a friend who died at 29. This was in Florida when helmwts were required by law. He was riding about 40 mph when a van pulled out in front of him. He hit the van and was thrown over the top. The back of his helmet caught on the van's door handel and snaped his neck. If he had not worn a helmet he would not have died.

It's also very possiable that if he had not worn the helmet he would have seen the van sooner and avoided the accedent altogether.

Helmets are restrictive, inhibit vision and hearing making riding more dangerous.

Riding is dangerous, but so is slipping in the shower.

I hate bugs....hopefully I'll make it through the cicada season. My intelleigent Hubby schedule a soccer tournament for Memorial Day weekend. I'm hoping they will not be prominent at the fields. The nights I play sofball, I'll at least be armed with my bat.

On the subject of helmets. I would have to wear a helmet, and who wants to have helmet hair, so I don't ride motorcycles.
